Digital Hat will combine the function and pervasive technologies of cards like Oyster Card and loyalty schemes like Tesco Club Card with mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets to create a box office function that is flexible, mobile, and responds to the needs of people on both sides of the gifting and receiving transaction.
The outcome will enable users to give and receive donations towards a specific product through common technologies such as phones and cards wirelessly and securely. The outcome will share data and value between the gifter and receiver.
The challenge we want to overcome is how we adequately collect value (money and data) in a crowd or non-linear context whilst the gifter feels in control of that value.
What if you could enable an auditorium of people, leaving after a show, to pay what they thought it was worth on their way out?
What if a charity could fundraise for an event in a crowd?
What if the hat you passed around captured data and money that the gifter and receiver could hold between them equally and securely and most importantly, usefully?
